Ask these questions of every solar company

1) Are your installers certified NABCEP PV Installation Professionals?

This is a voluntary certification that provides a set of national standards by which PV Installation Professionals with skills and experience can distinguish themselves from their competition. PV Solar is a specialized area that requires more knowledge than just an electrical license provides.

2) Are your installers local or sub-contracted out of the area?

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory reports that a local solar installer could save you 10% or more on your system. Many larger companies take a "cookie cutter approach" to improve efficiency and bottom line. Time and attention are needed to fully customize a system to fit your home's specifications and your needs.

3) Where is your company based? Do you have a local office?

With a local company, you form a partnership with your installer. Local solar companies are dependent on referrals, which means every solar installation is just as much an investment for the installer as it is for the person who’s having the system installed. Supporting local businesses isn't just beneficial for you, it's better for the local economy too.
